I'm really thankful to have a great wife. I came home after a busy and tiring day of work, headed to my displays as I'd left it in a mess the night before, only to be pleasantly surprised to find myself a MISB Transformers Movie Optimus Prime hidden in a shelf!
I've been contemplating on getting this bot since it was released here a couple of weeks back but held back as I wasn't too sure on whether to collect the movie toy line.
I must say that I'm rather pleased with this bot. The transformation is very different from the Transformers of old... this one incorporates a bit of Beast Wars ("shell" transformers) and Gen1 style into the whole transformation sequence.
My only gripe is that this bot lacks wrist and waist articulation. Plus the light-up effects weren't my cuppa tea (guess it'll appeal more to the little kiddies). Oh, and I really disliked the rubbery smoke-stacks (c'mon, there are so many other pointy bits on this toy!).
Otherwise, I've absolutely no complaints... the automorph technology was a cool feature that the designers had squeezed in. This bot now stands proudly next to the other Optimus Prime (Galaxy Convoy) that my dear wife had bought for me a year back.
Thanks, darling... you're the best.
